Norikazu Furukawa,

or Norrie.

I'm an econometrician with a PhD degree in sustainability science from The University of Tokyo (2020) and a MA degree in economics from University of San Francisco (2011). You can find my academic works on my ResearchGate page; for more details, visit my LinkedIn profile.

I started this blog at the beginning of Spring 2020, upon receiving my doctoral degree, when our society - our civilization, you may say - was disrupted by the pandemic of COVID-19. As an expert of public policy for short-term rentals (esp. Airbnb), I was expecting to work for the industry at that time, and yet what I observed was a rapid shrink in the market as people stopped traveling. I had to change my plan.

At the moment of writing this introduction, I am unemployed with no steady income but with plenty of time not all of which was occupied by searching for work opportunities; that is why I started this.

My plan is to share some results of my number crunching in areas from the humanity's ongoing battle against the new corona virus to the financial market's looming crash estimated by some to be much bigger than the Great Recession and Depression. But who knows... the least measurable thing today is whether you can stick with your plan!
